‘Rough Year’ Reflections by Shakira

shakira reflects on ‘rough year'

Shakira transformed her personal struggles into a fan-favorite song that they can enjoy no matter when or where. The celebrated “Hips Don’t Lie” artist recently discussed how her split from longtime partner Gerard Piqué inspired her record-breaking collaboration with Bizarrap titled “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.” During a March 10 interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” she shared that writing the song was crucial to her, particularly after a difficult year following their separation. It served as an effective outlet for channeling all of the emotions she had been experiencing in a healthy manner.

Her appearance on the talk show revealed that the track, which features lyrics that seem to shade Piqué and his new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti, has broken 14 Guinness World Records. With the song’s success, the 46-year-old feels as though she has a “sisterhood” of women who feel the same way she does, who have had to deal with so much crap as she has.

It was when Shakira noticed that the Argentine DJ had slipped into her DMs that Bizarrap and Shakira came together to collaborate. Even before Bizarapp and the “She Wolf” singer entered the studio, Milan, 10, the oldest of the two boys, had a vision.

“He told me, ‘Mom, you’ve got to collaborate with Bizarrap. You have to get on a song with Bizarrap because you guys are going to be number one,'” Shakira told host Jimmy Fallon. He told my manager, Jaime, “You have to put my mom with Bizarrap on a song because they are going to be number one,” and he was right.”
