Real Madrid find themselves in the middle of a difficult situation right now. The club are coming off of a Spanish Super Cup final defeat at the hands of Barcelona, and even more importantly, it was a completely one-sided game. On top of that, they have fallen three points behind their El Clasico rivals in the La Liga title race as well.
As a result, the upcoming Copa del Rey Round of 16 game against Villarreal has taken on an even bigger importance than it normally would have.
The biggest problem right now for Los Blancos is that they have seemed very sluggish after the World Cup break. Several key players are struggling for form and if things continue in this manner, it will not take long for their season to be derailed completely.
Thus, it will be very interesting to see how Carlo Ancelotti handles his squad moving forward. It looks like some players do not agree with one of his decisions though.
As reported by Relevo, Nacho Fernandez’s situation stings inside the dressing room of Real Madrid.
Nacho has slipped further down the pecking order at Real Madrid this season, following the arrival of Antonio Rudiger in the summer on a free transfer, after his contract ran out at Chelsea.
Rudiger was one of the best defenders on the planet while playing under the management of Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, but it is safe to say that he has not been able to replicate that form in a Real Madrid shirt this season.
In fact, some of his performances have raised a lot of questions and many fans are wondering whether Real Madrid made the wrong decision by signing Rudiger. As a result, it does feel like Nacho deserves more chances ahead of the German centre-back moving forward.
