Johnnie Cochran was born on October 2, 1937, in Shreveport, Louisiana. His mother was a salesperson for Avon, while his father did insurance work. Moreover, a Juris Doctor degree from the Loyola Law School in 1962.
The family moved during the second wave of the Great Migration to settle in Los Angeles at 1949.In the wake of finishing the California law student review in 1963, Cochran took a Los Angeles situation as an appointee city lawyer in the criminal division.
Cochran graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1955 as first in his class. He then enrolled at UCLA, where he earned a BA in business economics in 1959.
He propelled his firm, Cochran, Atkins, and Evans, in 1965 in Illinois. By the last part of the 70s, he became known as the “go-to” attorney for cases including police fierceness and wrongdoing.
Cochran married Barbara Berry Cochran in 1960 and the pair divorced in 1977. Later, in 1985, he married Sylvia Dale. They later divorced in 2005. The couple has three children together, two of whom were adopted from foster care homes out of California, as well as a grandson.
