niall horan, chance the rapper usher in 'rookie season'

In “The Voice,” fresh coaches Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper are bringing heat, but Blake Shelton remains the reigning champion. As part of the Season 23 premiere, Horan and Chance turned their chairs for country rock crooner Neil Salsich, alongside Shelton and coach Kelly Clarkson. Salsich blew the coaches away with his stunning range and electric rendition of Hank Williams’ “Honkey Tonk Blues.”

I’m not familiar with country music, but your voice – the tone, the range, and the runs you’re doing – seems interesting to me. Why not a country singer and a rapper together? Horan said, “It would be cool to steal a country artist from Blake.” But Salsich chose Shelton as his coach in the end. He added, “Country storytelling is my thing.” Blake couldn’t tell you a story at all.”

I don’t care if these guys are new or that I should be polite. Forget that. They’re going down.” Check out what else went down on Monday’s episode of “The Voice.”
