Authorities Arrest the Suspected Killer of Atlanta Rapper Trouble

Atlanta rapper known as Trouble was shot and killed on Sunday. He is 34 years old.

The artist Mariel Semonte Orr was discovered by Rockdale County Sheriff’s deputies. They were called to the scene of a shooting in the nearby town of Conyers around 3:20 a.m. Sunday morning, but he died at a local hospital before they arrived.

Officials said Jamichael Jones, 33, was visiting a woman at the apartment complex when he fired a gun, shooting the rapper once in the chest.

Canty, who acts as the public information officer for the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, said in a press conference: “It was a domestic situation.”

Canty was not able to provide other details on what led to the shooting, but said Orr did not know Jones.

Jones was taken in without incident. The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday that they had arrested Jones.

Police said that Jones has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and battery. He agreed to turn himself in to the police and has been charged with those crimes. Everyone from Drake, to The Weeknd, to Young Thug, to 2 Chainz have collaborated with Trouble.

Def Jam is a record label that represents Trouble. Their post about him on their Instagram page states: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Def Jam are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble. A true voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented.”

Authorities have asked anyone who knows anything about the killing to contact the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.
