By 14, she was performing at open mic nights, and at 17, she earned early admission as a music student to the Tisch School of Arts at New York University. She is one of only 20 people in the world to have ever done so. Lady Gaga performed in a number of bands, such as SGBand and Mackin Pulsifer, playing venues on the Lower East Side. She soon decided to break away from rock ‘n’ roll music and began performing in burlesque shows.

Career:

In the year 2008, Lady Gaga released her very first music album ‘The Fame’ to lukewarm radio play; she toured to Europe and in gay bars and clubs in the USA in order to promote her album, though it was not till her first super hit ‘Just Dance’ came to attention in the year 2009 that she exploded on the music scene.

Since that time, Lady Gaga has gained a number of awards as well as nominations for a cord of hits; her first music album hatched some more mega-hits ‘Love Game’, ‘Poker Face’ and ‘Paparazzi’; once touring the album she wrote ‘The Fame Monster, an EP exploring the blacker side to her new-found recognition. The Fame Monster was released in the year 2009 and received manifold awards, hatching her most iconic single ‘Bad Romance, ‘Alejandro’ and ‘Telephone’.

She also released ‘Telephone’ and ‘Alejandro’ which performed well on the charts. Alejandro courted controversy due to the use of religious iconography which was seen as blasphemous by some religious groups. The music video for ‘Bad Romance’ was the most-watched video on Youtube in 2010.

She was nominated for thirteen Awards and won eight at the 2010 MTV Music Awards. The success of ‘The Fame’ and ‘The Fame Monster’ allowed Gaga to go on her second worldwide tour, ‘The Monster Ball Tour. The tour grossed $227.4 million and became the highest-grossing tour in history for a debut artist.

The lead single for Gaga’s studio album of the same name, called ‘Born This Way’ was released in 2011. The single sold more than five million copies in the first five days and became the fastest-selling single in iTunes history. The singles ‘Judas’ and ‘The Edge of Glory’ followed a few months later. The album sold eight million copies worldwide and earned Lady Gaga a number of awards. On December 19, 2017, Gaga announced via Instagram that she had signed on for a Las Vegas residency. The following August, she confirmed that she would begin her residency at MGM Resorts’ Park Theater at the end of the year, performing two separate shows over 27 dates: Lady Gaga Enigma, a collection of her most popular songs, and Lady Gaga Jazz & Piano, which features stripped-down versions of her greatest hits as well as selections from the Great American Songbook. GaGa embarked on her “Joanne World Tour” in August. However, due to her chronic pain, she was forced to cancel the last ten shows of her trek. The tour was supposed to conclude on February 23, 2018, in Berlin, Germany, but it wrapped up on February 1 in Birmingham, England.

Also in the same year, GaGa starred as a struggling singer Ally in Bradley Cooper’s remake of “A Star is Born”. Hitting theaters across the nation on October 5, the flick debuted at No. 2 on Box Office with $41.3 million. On the other hand, its soundtrack album arrived atop Billboard 200 chart. Its lead single “Shallow” topped music charts in Ireland and Switzerland in addition to peaking at No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Her music career aside, GaGa was announced as one of the honorees at the 2018 ELLE Women in Hollywood gala in October. During her acceptance speech, the singer announced her engagement to talent agent Christian Carino.

GaGa then held her Las Vegas residency, “Lady Gaga Enigma”, which began in December at the MGM Park Theater and is scheduled to begin in December. Prior to that, fans were treated to the visuals of “I’ll Never Love Again”, the closing power ballad of “A Star Is Born”, on October 19, 2018. In 2019, Gaga launched her own beauty brand, named Haus Laboratories complete with her own exclusive line of products. GaGa excited fans on February 27, 2020, by releasing a new single titled “Stupid Love”, which saw her returning to her quirky musical roots. The single, which was accompanied by an equally quirky music video, marked her first solo single in three years. It debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming GaGa’s sixteenth top 10.
