Gas station owner in Northern California shoots man twice in the chest, deputies say

(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Officer is investigating a shooting that involved a gas station owner Friday night.

Around 7:15 p.m., SCSO said the store owner of FastTrip Gas Station located at 8061 Florin Road shot a man twice in the chest. The circumstances of the shooting are unclear, however, the sheriff’s office said the incident was not a robbery gone wrong. The store owner has been detained and the gun owner was reportedly recovered by deputies.

According to SCSO, the incident began as the store owner left the premises after his shift. During that time, the victim and a woman were sitting outside of the store, which was still open for business. For unknown reasons, the store owner returned to FastTrip and began talking to the victim and woman.

Deputies said the store owner “somehow got scared” during the conversation and shot the victim twice. Subsequently, the woman who was with the victim, ran away and has not been located. The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and the incident is under investigation.
