What a weekend- that is if you enjoy interesting meteorology! Unfortunately it was not good weather for making plans. We started Saturday with snow to sleet and eventually a cold rain. Now today we experienced more heavy rain and ultimately a few thunderstorms for southern areas. Temperatures briefly spiked in the 40s to near 50°, but now cold air is rushing in behind the strong storm system that just passed the region. Wind gusts have already exceeded 40 mph, and the wind is not slowing down. *A High Wind Warning* is in place for tonight through Monday evening at 4 PM. The strongest gusts will be greater than 50 mph.

We’ll stay windy to start the work week, and with highs getting into the 20s and 30s, wind chills will in the teens and single digits will be in play. At least we will get periods of sun and drier weather.

The active weather continues for late Wednesday into Thursday with a developing area of low pressure swinging in from the west and strengthening along Mid-Atlantic coastline. At points in the last week the model guidance was much stronger with this storm, but more of a realistic forecast is taking shape. A light snow is likely Wednesday night into Thursday, however at this point it does not appear to be a major winter storm for Central PA. The heaviest snow is likely south and southeast of the region.
