Teenager dies of ‘cardiac arrest’ at go-karting track

A teenager has died of a suspected cardiac arrest at an indoor go-karting track in Staffordshire.

Emergency crews were called to reports of a man in his late teens collapsing at TeamSport Go Karting Stoke in Burslem at about 8.15pm on Friday.

The teenager was reported to be unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the venue.

Staffordshire Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and the coroner will be informed.

A spokesman for the force said: “We were called to TeamSport Go Karting Stoke following reports of a cardiac arrest. Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service were already there and found a man in his late teens unresponsive at the scene.

“Sadly, he was later pronounced dead. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner. Our thoughts remain with the man’s family at this difficult time.”

The venue, which remained open on Saturday, said on its website that it offers “a fantastic high octane experience – perfect for all motorsport enthusiasts aged eight and up”, with “state-of-the-art spectator facilities”.

TeamSport Go Karting Stoke declined to comment on the teenager’s death.
