In the days leading up to her birthday, a “NSFW” Reddit forum counting down to her coming of age appeared online, with more than 6,000 members joining the group before it was shut down. And when Millie posted photos to her Instagram account to mark the fact that she was now 18, the post was inundated with sexually explicit comments and lewd emojis from her followers.
And in a new interview with Vanity Fair, Millie, now 20, touched on this disturbing aspect of her career as she reflected on the time she was working on a fashion shoot in Australia at just 13 years old and a paparazzo sneaked onto the closed set to take invasive photos of her. The voyeuristic images were published the next day, and Millie has now told Vanity Fair that she was not appropriately covered when the pap took the photos. She said: “I didn’t have nothing on [underneath].”
“I think everybody’s a little bit too lax about the way that children are brought up in the industry,” Millie later told the publication. “I grew up with a lot of eyes on my parents, but I feel that those were the people that protected me the most.”
