lenovo ideapad l340-15

The IdeaPad L340 15 (81LK00HDUS) is a great budget laptop for gamers. This laptop offers an Intel Core i5-9300H CPU and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU. It starts from a really good price for a budget laptop and is more powerful than ever before.

Design

Lenovo’s new IdeaPad L340 features a handful of design and performance enhancements that make it an attractive mid-2019 option. However, they are mostly a refresh of Lenovo’s Y540 if you want to compare specs and pricing.

It’s more comfortable for your hands to use the palm rest. It has a softer touch, but it is not as stylish when compared to the brushed aluminum of the Acer Predator Helios 500. It clads itself in a brushed black chassis with a dominant blue keyboard lighting to give it acceptable build quality.

It’s priced further south than the competition, though, so people might want to consider these materials. The Lenovo Legion has a size that is a little smaller than most 15.6-inch gaming laptops. Its chassis is also thinner, at around just under an inch thick and with a footprint of 14.3 by 10 inches.

Display

The IdeaPad L340’s display provides a view that is great for gaming. It has a resolution of 1080p, bright colors, an anti-glare surface, and other features that make it a great value. The IPS display has a 60Hz refresh rate, but that’s not an issue at this price point. The GTX 1650 will deliver 60 FPS in most modern games and excel with intense gaming genres like esports.

Connectivity

The IdeaPad L340 is a basic laptop with lots of problems. It is only equipped to have the most basic ports for a modern laptop, all located on the left side, except for a Kensington lock on the right side. It has a single USB Type-C port, as well as an SD card reader, Thunderbolt port, and a part of USD 3.1 ports with three HDMI 2.0 ports.

802.11 AC Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 come with wireless connectivity. You get a transfer speed of 292 Mb/s when sending your data, which is on par with the HP Omen 15’s transfer speed.

Keyboard & Touchpad

RGB backlighting is a standard feature for gaming laptops. The IdeaPad L340 joins other models that offer a monochrome keyboard backlighting that glows blue. The keyboards use a two-stage illumination that is uniform across all keys and can be adjusted for both outdoor and indoor use.

The keyboard is full-size with a standard number pad, offering short travel and precision pressure point, it feels comfortable to type on even though the arrow keys are smaller than other keys.

The ClickPad is mounted on a frame against the bottom of a keyboard. It has a rattling sound when touched by someone’s fingers. For instance, I had trouble with the mouse buttons only responding when you were pressing very hard on the bottom corners of the mouse pads, and the surface itself is fairly stubborn on fingerprints.

The performance of this mouse is not noticeably below average. It has a few lagging points, but overall that isn’t too distracting.

Performance

Lenovo bills the IdeaPad L340 (81LK00HDUS) as a powerful gaming laptop. However, there are some pricier machines that would better fit your needs in this series. On the other hand, our entry-level model is capable enough to run modern games smoothly.

You won’t be able to play with high-quality graphics or frame rates on modern titles, and you will not be able to play at 4K resolution either.

Intel’s 9th Generation Core i5-9300H processor is a great choice for computing tasks. It comes with 8GB RAM and an NVMe SSD. It runs at up to 2.4GHz with a turbo mode equal to 4.1GHz and can maintain this speed by up to two cores with efficient cooling.

As configured, This laptop is configured for light media creation and daily tasks including spreadsheet processing.

Battery Life

The Lenovo IdeaPad 81LK00HDUS offers a better battery life than the Acer Predator Helios 300, although it is not exactly long. The MSI GS65 Stealth offers better battery life, but it’s barely enough to keep them off the list. The Acer Nitro 5 triumphs over all of the other laptops with its high-quality performance and long battery life.

Final Verdict

The Lenovo IdeaPad L340 is an entry-level, budget gaming laptop. It has a Core i5-9300H quad-core processor and a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card, which allows for a smooth gaming experience. However, when you don’t have a lot of money to spend on a laptop, you have to accept minor trade-offs such as a missing card reader and a middling ClickPad.

Lenovo offers a beautiful display with suave contrast and black value. The laptops offer some real satisfaction or a good return on your investment.
