Kristin Davis has revealed that she begged Sex and the City’s costume designer not to make her wear fur during her time on the HBO series — and said that she had “nightmares” when she was forced to try on a chinchilla wrap.
This includes Carrie Bradshaw’s infamous brown fur coat, which she wore throughout the original season as well as in SATC’s recent sequel series, And Just Like That….
Speaking on the pod, the star revealed that Sex and the City’s costume designer, Patricia Field, “really loved fur,” which led to the show being criticized by PETA at the time.
“So Pat would always think: ‘Wouldn’t it be great to put them in some fun fur coats,” she added. “But every year, every year at the beginning, she would try to get me into a fur coat. And every year I’d beg her: ‘Please, Pat, no. Please, Pat, no. Please, please, no, please, no — anything, anything but that.’”
“She puts this chinchilla wrap cape on me, and she’s like: ‘It’s fabulous,’” Kristin shared. “And I’m like: ‘Oh, god help me.’ I go home, and I literally have nightmares that the chinchillas have come alive and that they’re crawling all over me.”
And this wasn’t the only Sex and the City fashion tidbit that Kristin shared on this week’s podcast, with the star also revealing that her feet were left so swollen from shooting in high heels all week that she had a special pair of comfortable shoes one size too big that she’d wear on weekends.
