Hit King Pete Rose Could Be Reinstated Following Shocking Turn Of Events

ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. recently reported the shocking news that commissioner Rob Manfred could remove Pete Rose from baseball’s ineligible list.

“Commissioner Rob Manfred is considering a petition filed on Jan. 8 by Pete Rose’s family to have Major League Baseball’s all-time hit leader posthumously removed from baseball’s ineligible list, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN on Saturday,” Van Natta wrote.

This report comes just a day after President Donald Trump released a statement regarding a Presidential pardon he promises to use for Pete Rose. In that statement, Trump urged baseball to reinstate the hit king and allow for him to be voted into the Hall of Fame.

It’s unclear what exactly Trump is pardoning Rose from, but the president emphasized his belief that Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame.

Rose died on September 30th, 2024, at the age of 83.

Jeffrey Lenkov, a lawyer who represented Rose prior to his death last year, reportedly met with Commissioner Manfred and MLB spokesman Pat Courney in December. Lenkov was joined by Rose’s oldest daughter, Fawn, in the meeting.

“The commissioner was respectful, gracious and actively participated in productive discussions regarding removing Rose from the ineligible list,” Lenkov said, per Van Natta. “So that we could seek induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, which had long been his desire and is now being sought posthumously by his family.”

Rose has been a hot topic during Hall of Fame voting every season. At this point in time, it seems like most of the baseball fans around the league believe Rose should be reinstated and put up for Hall of Fame voting.

The President of the United States believes he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Only time will tell whether Commissioner Manfred and the league’s office agree.
