It seems that we all need a bit more happiness right now, but a country might need a little help in that regard.Finland is once again at the top of the list, according to an edition of the UN annual World Happiness Report today.
Since the first report was released in 2012, only four countries have been ranked first. Denmark in 2012, 2013 and 2016, Switzerland in 2015, Navarre in 2017 and Finland in 2018,2019 and 2020 topped the list.
The 2020 report included 156 countries whose citizens were asked to be happy on the basis of their lives.
Finland took the first position with a very low margin. The list is followed by Finland followed by Denmark, Switzerland, Iceland, and Norway.
All Nordic countries are included in the top ten.
The UK could not be included in the top ten countries this time, and it is 13th in the list, while the United States is at number 18.
Report editor Jeffrey Seychess says: “The World Happiness Report has been an important tool for policy makers in helping them understand what makes people happy and what works for the well-being of citizens. Can be promoted. We are constantly seeing that initiatives taken for the welfare of the people include social support and trust, honest governments, safe environment and healthy living.
Afghanistan, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Central African Republic are the last countries on the list of happiest countries.
The 2020 report also asked the residents of the cities for the first time what they think of their well-being.
Finland’s capital, Helsinki, was expected to be number one on the list, followed by Aarhus (Denmark), Wellington (New Zealand), Zurich (Switzerland), and Copenhagen (Denmark).
London was the happiest city in the UK, at 36th on the list.
The top cities on the list include Kabul, Afghanistan’s city of Sanaa, Yemen’s city of Sanaa, Gaza’s city of Gaza, Haiti’s city of Port-au-Prince and southern Sudan’s city of Juba.
While comparing urban and rural environments, it was found that the residents of the cities are happier than the average citizens, but being with friends also plays a decisive role in being happy.
Another research editor, John Halewell, says: ‘A happy social environment, whether rural or urban, where people can feel the adoption where they enjoy and where their benefits are shared. It is more lasting because shared trust relieves stress and promotes well-being while reducing inequality. ‘
