The Daytona International Speedway has started the 2025 Xfinity Series season. Justin Allgaier, the reigning NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, has clinched pole position for the United Rentals 300.
The excitement begins at 5 p.m. ET on the CW Network, where fans will watch Allgaier in the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet leading the way after a number of weather-related cancellations shuffled the weekend’s events.
JR Motorsports, where Allgaier has been driving since 2016, has emerged as a formidable driver over the last few years. Founded by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kelley Earnhardt Miller in 2005, the team has become a strong squad in the Xfinity Series, boasting multiple championships.
Making their debut in the Cup Series with Allgaier at the Daytona 500, they’d shown an intention to elevate their presence even further.

Unpredictable weather at Daytona led to the qualifying session’s cancellation. Typically, qualifying involves two stages of single-lap runs, but when the rain arrives, NASCAR uses owner points from the previous year to set the lineup. This ensures teams that had performed well previously are rewarded with advantageous starting positions. It eliminated some stress for drivers like Allgaier, but drivers like JJ Yeley found themselves missing out because the owner points system didn’t favor this setup.
The starting lineup promises plenty of excitement. Austin Hill, known for his Daytona track record, is aiming for his fourth consecutive victory in the season opener. Starting from fourth, eyes will be on how his experience translates into another potential win. Meanwhile, fresh faces like William Sawalich are making their presence known. Sawalich starts in fifth in his first full-time season in the Xfinity Series after a stellar ARCA season, adding fresh blood to the mix of seasoned veterans.

Taylor Gray comes in strong, having topped the practice session earlier in the week but will start in second position due to the owner points regulation. Close behind in the lineup is Christian Eckes from Kaulig Racing starting P3.
