In Captain America: New World Order, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed a major twist for Harrison Ford. Taking on the role of Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, a US army general bent on bringing superheroes under the government, Indiana Jones star Ford joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Avengers’ nemesis. He had played the role in the MCU before his death in 2022.
Ross has previously held the rank of general, but Feige has now confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Thunderbolt now holds the rank of president.
As far as Harrison is concerned, you think about Air Force One and some of his confrontations with the president in Clear and Present Danger. “There is a dynamic between the president and Sam Wilson.” Despite their history together, we will see in this film an incredible dynamic between Captain America and the president.”
According to Feige, Ford is “embracing” his new role in the MCU with his “tireless” dedication, and the actor has been a dream of his for years. “This has been my dream for years, ever since Jon Favreau cast Harrison Ford in Cowboys and Aliens,” Feige said..”
“I’ve always been jealous of him, so to have him in the MCU is just incredible. It’s like I can check that off my list.”
During New World Order, Anthony Mackie will take control of Captain America’s shield, while Tim Blake Nelson will return to his 2008 Incredible Hulk role as the Leader. Thunderbolts, a film about antiheroes on a mission to redeem themselves, also expects Ford to return as President Ross.
