Everything Cat Who Works at Vet’s Did to Get ‘Evicted’ From the Office

A cat’s unusual work ethic at the veterinary office has left Instagram users cracking up as he has shown to be the one employee to get on his coworkers’ nerves.

Amber Wawak, a veterinarian at an animal hospital in Texas, found a stray cat named George last New Year’s. The plan was to foster him while he received his shots and neutering surgery. He had trial runs with potential adopters, however, it didn’t work out with those families and Wawak happily took him.

“I realized I couldn’t be without him!” she told Newsweek via Instagram.

She has since taken George with her to work every day, although she jokingly said he was turned down from the job when he first “applied” to be the clinic cat because they weren’t sure how a kitten would do at a vet clinic. She still brought him anyway, a loophole she uses since other doctors can bring their pets.

“He was not allowed free rein of the clinic because we were worried about his safety,” she said. “So he was in a kennel or back office unless someone was watching him.”

Bringing him into work helped him get socialized, but the team quickly learned George wasn’t there to earn “Employee of the Month” titles. He became the chaos-maker.

In a January 9 Instagram video, posted to the account @dr.george_dmv, Wawak shared a few of George’s behaviors that have annoyed coworkers and got him “evicted” from the operating room after he broke into it. George knows how to get under their skin, from breaking and eating into the food inventory to keeping the employees from working on the computer.

Luckily, they all don’t seem to mind. George fills the office with laughter and love. Before him, the team had another clinic cat, Tony, who unfortunately passed away a few months before Wawak found George.

“Now he is basically an integral employee!” Wawak said. “He brings a lot of emotional support to the staff when we have tough cases or a difficult euthanasia. Giving him a little hug and hearing him purr definitely lifts my spirit.”
